homebridge-unifi-mac-block

The name

i originally named this repo cause my kids will sometimes act like anal crevices which would force me to block their playstations in my unifi controller. The progressed to my wife calling me to do this during the day. Well no more i have exposed the mac through homekit as a pad lock.

Configuration

Create a user in your unifi controller, it does not need the elevated permissions to manage devices.

A sample config is located in config.json which can be used to specify the platform for this functionality.

  "base":"<the url to your unifi controller",
  "username": "<an admin user name>",
  "password": "<duh>",
  "refreshInterval": "<seconds to requery for state changes, remove if you dont want automatic polling>"
  "site": "<the uuid of the site or 'default'>",
  "unifios": false,
  "devices": [
    {
      "name": "<initial name in homekit>",
      "mac": "00:00:00:00:00:00"
    }
  ]

to install

npm i -g homebridge-unifi-mac-block

then update the homebridge config to include the platform definition shown in config.json.

Testing

I test this module by creating a new test home in homeapp. I then update the config.json file to include my authentication information to my local unifi. I then run

npm run homebridge

which spools up homebridge using the local config file. I then add the bridge to the test home so that i can get VERY heavy handed with development without tainting my beloved "home".

If you have any suggestions to make this easier, like a way to not contain the user/password in the config file, please send over a PR.
