NullPointerException when trying to open designer

Here's my setup:

• Macbook w/M1 card
• Java v12.0.2
• PMD v6.50.0
  No matter what, I can't get the rule designer to open. I've tried using multiple different versions of JavaFX, but no matter what version I used, when I run bin/run.sh designer, I always get:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException: inStream parameter is null

	at net.sourceforge.pmd.util.fxdesigner.DesignerStarter.getJavaFxVersion(DesignerStarter.java:116)
	at net.sourceforge.pmd.util.fxdesigner.DesignerStarter.isCompatibleJavaFxVersion(DesignerStarter.java:100)
	at net.sourceforge.pmd.util.fxdesigner.DesignerStarter.launchGui(DesignerStarter.java:153)
	at net.sourceforge.pmd.util.fxdesigner.DesignerStarter.main(DesignerStarter.java:86)

I can't find any indication about what this means or how I can fix it. I'm hoping someone here can help.

@jfeingold35 yes, I fear there is a bug, that is fixed on master and will be part of the next release. In the meantime, you can manually patch your run.sh to fix this, as per this comment: #4153 (reply in thread)

This will be available with PMD 6.52.0
