Using Invoke-PnPSiteTemplate but I want the resource files hosted in SPO site

I just found out about Get-PnpSiteTemplate and Invoke-PnpSiteTemplate and love it when using via powershell. I have used it to create the XML output and even fine tuned the XML file to include just what I want. It applies to another site just great. Now I'm trying to figure out two things.

1. Can this be used to create an organizational site template for end users to apply themselves?
2. Because I use resource files like site logos, site pages, and some preloaded files in Shared Documents, can the files be hosted from a SPO site?

I've been viewing so many website articles and videos the past week that I thought I saw instructions for adding the output file to the Organization Site Templates but now I'm not finding it. Maybe question # 2 can't be done, but I have definitely tried writing the <pnp:File Src ....> in several different methods but can't seem to get it to use a web based location.
