Pods field not updating - with Gravity Forms Add-on - for US States as dropdown list

Issue Overview

I have a Pod with a field for State. It is to Relationship —> predefined list (for US States).
Then, in my Gravity Form - the State field (is set as a dropdown - US States)
But, when the form is submitted, the Pod field does not get updated. (in fact, it 'removes' whatever HAD been in the Pods US State field)

If I change the Pod -- so that the State field is "Plain Text" (not "Relationship") -- then, when the GF is submitted - it works correctly, and updates the state name into the Pods plain text field.

Expected Behavior

I was expecting that the Pods field for US States -- should be set up as "Relationship" - and use the predefined list of US States -- and that when the GF is submitted, it would update the US State field in the Pod.

Current Behavior

Currently, with Pods US State field set as "Relationship" -- when the GF is submitted, the Pods US State field ends up showing "Select One" -- (removing whatever state name WAS in the field, prior to the GF submission)

HOWEVER - If I change the Pods US State field -- to be "Plain Text" (rather than Relationship) -- THEN, the GF is able to update the Pods US State field.
