Steps to reproduce:

  • Install Pods from the Plugins menu
  • Click the activate link after it is installed

Workaround:
For me, I can return the the Plugins menu and activate from the plugins list.

wp-admin/includes/plugin.php, validate_plugin() is being called for Markdown.
