4 corrupted files, I can salvage some but with replication issues... #249
Comments
Posted this issue on reddit at this thread for anyone curious/interested in joining in on the conversation. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskADataRecoveryPro/comments/yv1ijz/i_have_4_corrupted_files_that_i_was_able_to/ |
I got ten days pretty full. If you send me the samples I can hexedit the video and at least guess what the problem is and how can be fixed. Anyway: samples from the same days should not matter, BUT if one working sample fails to recover the viddeo different samples might help. (unlikely, but possible). P.S. I don't need money, I need time... |
Hi there!
So I have a link to a DMDE backup of the full drive image here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11LIpbHlJj6x5dXwCK2vOJDSHGjt7nwnY?usp=share_link
I have a full reddit thread of the things I've attempted so far.
Here's a link to that thread:

If there's anything else I can do to facilitate this process for you,
please let me know. I really appreciate you and your product. If you are
able to recover the files, I'd be happy to compensate you in some way. Even
if you aren't interested in money, I run a podcast and would love to
promote your products in my sponsor block in appreciation for your efforts.
Thank you again for everything!

Hi there! Just checking in. Is there anything I can do to facilitate your process? I sincerely appreciate your efforts and your support for this project. |
You manage to look at this at all?

I tried to recover the files (not fix the video), but I am on linux and got little experience on that front, so I failed abjectly. I also had a look at the disk image (can find the mdat, can follow up to a point the packet structure) but, lacking the 'working' files, this approach wont work. I can only work on files, not disk images, definitely. |
I have 4 files filmed at 4k resolution that came from a Panasonic Lumix G7 in .mp4 format.
I used a few tools, but what worked the best for me so far was the untrunc GUI by anthwlock. When I repair the files, I found that they all reflect the same footage. I believe 1 of these files was fully repaired correctly, but the other 3 are of different footage. How is this happening?
I recovered the files from the SD card of the camera via RECUVA when they were inadvertently deleted.
I pulled a reference file from the same SD card and same day of filming. Is it better to grab a new video for reference or something? Looking for some best practice ideas that I could try.
I tried some different options to try to get things to work better but am at a loss at this point. I have some screenshots attached. Please take a look. Anyone who is able to help me with this, let me know how you'd like to be tipped $, XMR, etc. :)
Please feel free to ask me anything about this. These files are pretty important for a video edit I did with some high profile individuals.
