Might want to factor it into proper/idiomatic JS models (Backbone/Reactjs? Angular?)

I'm leaning toward moving things toward Backbone + React, but want to run some browser render performance stats first.

I also want to move animations away from SVG toward CSS animations, or perhaps an animation lib like Famo.us.
