Pornganizer v4 acts like bloatware, slows my computer and eventually freezes it #78

I start up my collection which I imported from PGV3 a couple of days ago, it takes a while to load since I've got about 1200 scenes and 800 stars in it. At first it runs fine albeit a little sluggish, memory usage is about 150 Mb or something like that. But after a couple of minutes memory usage just starts to rocket, past using 12GB RAM and eventually it uses ALL of my memory and slows the computer down until it freezes completely. I can use the mouse but I can't get any response, so a hard reset is the only way out. I ran PGV3 without many problems at all, but so far v4 is unusable for me. I run Windows 8.1 on an Intel i7-3770 with 16GB RAM so I think I should be able to run PGV4 smoothly. Check image to see how it looks. Viewing and editing scenes seems to speed up the memory drain progress but I'm not sure.

Mine does this after I've been in the program for a bit. I have to close and restart it to recover, then after a while it does it again.

your scene count is very low, shouldnt be having this issue. perhaps the directory scanner is going haywire on your setup? open the scenes tab, search panel, at the bottom click folders, see if that ever loads and lets you view it

I tried what you suggested, clicked Folders in the scenes menu and nothing happened for a minute or two. But then ALL folders from the internal drive and all of my external drives showed up on the left hand side of the screen. I could scroll through them up and down without much problem with memory use at about 160Mb RAM. Idling in the search menu didn't trigger anything either.

However, then I just clicked the "stars" tab which looks like this ( https://www.freeimage.us/image-973C_59BE2A2B.jpg ) on my computer, and memory usage immediately jumped to 1GB. The object this time was to create a profile for Miley Cole, so I right clicked and entered the star page. Just idling on the star page sent the memory racing again ( https://www.freeimage.us/image-B6D1_59BE2A2B.jpg ), from about 4GB to 7GB in 2-3 minutes. Eventually it looked like this (https://www.freeimage.us/image-8373_59BE2A2B.jpg) while still idling in the star page and I had to shut the program down to prevent computer freeze and crash. So basically I can only use 5-10 minutes at a time just like designbybrandon above.

ah. i am guessing you have a large image collection associated with some stars. PG is not very good at lots of images, it needs work.

Yeah you're right, I don't have big image collections for some stars, but I've created custom jpgs for each and every star I've added, the same goes for categories, dvds and websites. Looks like this, I think it looks great! ( https://www.freeimage.us/image-6ACF_59BE8BCF.jpg )

It's all linked to a "Database Pics" folder on one of my external drives. It's only 540 Mbs but it contains about 1000 jpgs, mostly stars. I've put a TON of work into my database, especially the stars, so it would be a shame to see it all go to waste.

Do you think there will be a fix? I never experienced a problem with this in PGV3, I really like all the work you've put into PGV4 so it would be a shame to have to go back to the old program. If you think there will be a fix I'll just stop adding new scenes for a while, I've got a lot of sorting to do :)

I found a couple of stars with a some extra images, I deleted the images and I even re-created the star pages to no avail.

BUT I think I still managed to pinpoint the problem. It comes down to a couple of NetVideoGirls mp4-files, which can't be previewed in the file explorer (see here: https://www.freeimage.us/image-F3E4_59BEAE7B.jpg ). These files are viewable in VLC, but not in PGV's preview player. When these files are previewed just as a VLC Cone next to the star in the star page, that's when the memory rush starts. I have tried removing these files from the database, restarted PGV4 and then returned to the star pages of the three girls in question, and now the memory drain doesn't start. That must be it, right? Dunno if it's fixable?

That's what I suspect is happening. I opened explorer, browsed through my thumbnails in one of the folders I've added to PGV, found another one that wouldn't preview (Netvideogirls again), and looked it up in PGV, this time through Websites --> Netvideogirls and sure enough, the memory drain started again as soon as I saw the VLC icon instead of a proper preview. Disk usage also increased A LOT along with the memory. Maybe if PGV can't preview the scene properly it goes crazy trying to search the video file for the correct info? That would explain why both disk usage and memory spike?

This time I managed to halt the drain though, by returning to the main scene menu and quickly previewing some other scenes. Maybe previewing other scenes stops PGV from searching the corrupt files? In my collection, I found that Netvideogirls, Wake up n Fuck and Woodman Castings are by far the most common "corrupt files".

I'm not 100% sure but I think its the preview which is killing the application.

After disabling the preview, PG is working well.
