System Heat

This mod tries to build a cleaner, more predictable system for handling thermal management than the stock KSP Core Heat mechanic, which is obtuse and painful to use.

The overall concept is as follows:

  • Parts can add heat to or consume heat from a vessel's cooling system
  • The vessel's cooling system is split into Cooling Loops that include some or all of the vessel's parts.
  • Each Cooling Loop functions independently

Cooling Loops

A Cooling Loop is a set of Parts that are connected together to distribute heat. An example might be a nuclear reactor and four radiators, or really any combination of heat producing or removing parts. Any number of loops can be created on a ship.

A Cooling Loop has a specific Temperature, which increases as parts add heat. Your goal as the player is to set up Cooling Loops so their temperature doesn't exceed the 'healthy' level of the parts that compose them.
