Sign In Problem - "Not allowed to use the browser: Google Chrome (91.x)" error

• I have searched the tracker for existing similar issues and I know that duplicates will be closed

Describe the Issue

I encountered Something went wrong error page when I opened the postman desktop app. I couldn't reach my workspace.

• Then I saw there was an error about failure of update (Screenshot-1) and clicked "Update failed, view details" then I got (Screenshot-2)
  -- I tried a few things and finally signed out.
  -- When I tried to sign in again, I got Not allowed to use the browser: Google Chrome (91.x) error. (Screenshot-3)
• Then I removed postman completely and install the latest version. But I still can not sign in and I'm getting still the same errors.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Open postman desktop app on mac
2. Sign out
3. Then click Sign In button

@serendipiri Looks like your IT team enforces a minimum version of Chrome to be used.

Could you elaborate on where you got the error in Screenshot-3? Was it on your browser?

Hi, I got the error in Screenshot-3 when I click the Sign In button inside Postman desktop app. It's happening inside the app.
I only know that the chromium version that postman uses might have some security vulnerabilities.

@serendipiri Postman v9.19.0 upgrades the internal Chrome version to 94. Could you download the latest version from https://www.postman.com/downloads/ and try if that works for you?

I tried but unfortunately, v.94 didn't solve the problem either. I guess I will probably have to wait until postman will have chrome version 100 or above.

Have the same issue with v94.x. Was reviewed by our company's security team, and they cannot/will not remove the exclusion for this Chrome plugin version. So we're now dependent on the Postman app being updated to a newer version (will be using the chrome version until then).
