The addon seems to have trouble reading emails - see conversation view below, which does not load anything.

I checked in the error console but there are no errors logged; only warnings in regards to unknown CSS properties.

I've had to disable the addon for now. This is on TB 24 on Ubuntu 13.04, 64bit. I don't have any of the incompatible addons listed in the wiki installed.

I'm using it on an ExQuilla account (connected to Microsoft Exchange).

Is there anything I can help with to debug?

Disabling, restarting, and enabling - my account was not visible at all then (using ExQuilla) in the side panel. It re-appeared once I disabled conversations.

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't have any idea :-(. I don't have an Exchange account myself, so it's really hard to debug this for me. I strongly suspect that ExQuilla is doing something non-standard that sends Thunderbird Conversations off the rails. I'm kinda short on time right now, but 👍

Thanks!

I'm seeing a similar problem.

I've recently upgraded to Thunderbird 24.0/Conversations 2.7 and since the upgrade I'm not able to see any e-mails with conversation enabled. I have two mailboxes - one over IMAP (Exchange) and another local one. The issue exists on both.

Similar to the initial report I'm not seeing any errors in the message log.

Following your suggestions I've enabled debugging in Conversations and as a result I got this message in the logs:

Timestamp: 01/10/13 14:57:12
Error: 2013-10-01 14:57:12 Conversations.Conversation ERROR RangeError: invalid language tag: %x

Source File: resource:///modules/gloda/log4moz.js
Line: 688

Let me know if I can help you debug the issue.

Do you have a stack trace along with the error, in the console?

I've edited misc.js:165 and removed the '%x' arguments:

  let format = aDate.toLocaleDateString() == (new Date()).toLocaleDateString()

After that it started to work again.

Not sure what that argument is supposed to do but according to MDN JavaScript API reference the optional arguments are not supported on any Gecko version.

Hi,

I've been traveling for the past month, hence I haven't got time to look into this. I'll do it shortly. @KrissN thanks for the patch!

getting same error and hanged add-on:
Timestamp: 10/16/13 23:17:05
Error: 2013-10-16 23:17:05 Conversations.Conversation ERROR RangeError: invalid language tag: %x

However, I'm not able to locate misc.js file in order to apply patch suggested by KrissN.

@KrissN

KrissN commented Oct 17, 2013

@rayrapetyan: The reason is probably the fact that the extension is by default compressed inside the extensions directory in Thunderbird. To apply the patch you'd need to either unpack the XPI file to its own directory inside the extensions directory or extract the extension into some temporary directory, apply the patch and repack it again.

@rayrapetyan

@KrissN, yep, that did the trick! Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience, the issue is now fixed. I've been completely busy over the past few weeks, which is why I've been unable to fix this sooner. The fix is in the latest nighty version of Conversations, a build of which is available online.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to debug the issue.

I installed 201311091820-master.xpihttp://jonathan.xulforum.org/files/gcv-nightlies/201311091820-master.xpi,
giving me Conversations 2.8pre, but the issue persists - restart
Thunderbird and my ExQuilla email account is not shown anymore.

For anyone that had this issue recently like I did. I made sure I had the most recent release of Thunderbird which as of this is 38.0.1. Even disabling and restarting and re-enabling and restarting did not fix it. I had to actually remove the add-on and go back to the add-on's page, re-add it and then restart to get it to work again.

Seems that the problem is here again on Linux 17.3/Cinnamon.

After today thunderbird upgrade (v. 45.2.0)

  1. If I double click a message thunderbird opens a "Conversation reader" tab and shows "Loading..." but nothing happens.

  2. If I right click the message and I select "Open in new tab" or "Open in new window" thunderbird opens and shows the message (the only workaround that I can use to open the messages...).

  3. If I start thunderbird from terminal and double click the message the result is the same of number 1 and no error messages are shown into terminal.

karfau commented Jul 19, 2016

The same for me, double click to open in new tab doesn't work for me.
Only as @giates says in 2) right click and "Open in new tab", does it, but that doesn't open the Conversation View but the "normal" mail view. Also "Open in new tab" doesn't show up when right clicking a thread (multiple collapsed mails.

I fixed the issue for me by removing the add on, restarting Ubuntu (to complete various pending updates) and installing the add on again.

giates commented Jul 21, 2016

Solved thanks to @karfau.

Removing the add on and installing the add on again now I can open again the message double clicking on it.

Me still facing the issue.
After closing and opening the Thunderbird, automatically conversations are not loading.
It's blocking my work because I'll open all the to do emails and will close once finished.
