Describe the issue

SMB - black screen on startup (ISO & ZSO). USB - works well (ISO & ZSO). Compatibility modes do not help. I use redump images and don't use PADEMU, VMC, GSM.

OPL Stable 1.1.0 & OPL Beta 1.2.0 2012

I am also experiencing this with SCES_524.56 over SMB using d26da79 on SCPH-75004. #389 (comment)

The game is still (as in I tested just now before writing this comment) working just fine for me, my SCES_524.56.cfg is:

$Compatibility=38
$VMC_0=rc
$ConfigSource=1

and in game settings this seems to map to modes 2 (synchronous mode), 3 (unhook syscalls) and 6 (disable igr) being enabled.

My sha1sum is 5593eab45eac8814ce4b95fa1c23510fc0a21ebf, which seems to match redump.org. I don't know how that site works, I used GNU ddrescue in 2019 (or at least it was years ago and 2019 is the time ls -l gives me), I don't remember which distribution I used back then.

My server is Fedora 38 running smbd 4.18.2. My samba config is here and my PS2SMB directory has regular chmod 777 -R PS2 treatment.

I just find it weird that the game works for me and not for you and I am happy to provide further details (if there is anything potentially helpful I am yet to mention) to find out why this is the case.

@Mikaela, your compatibility modes didn't help me. Also, I want to note that I had no problems with Qwark vid-comic 5 and big slowdowns, like other users. And for @lukasvolcik this game doesn't work via SMB either.

By the way, can you please check this issue? It also works for some users and not for others.

Weird, I wonder if SCPH-75004 and SCPH-90008 are just that different assuming we are using the same Open-PS2-Loader. I still don't know about your SMB-server-side setup, but I don't think it would explain not experiencing #803 either.

I did forgot to ask if you are using any cheats (or widescreen patches)? I experienced some other games failing to load with those enabled.

By the way, can you please check this issue? It also works for some users and not for others.

Ratchet trilogy games seem really similar in functioning so I don't understand what could be wrong with Up your arsenal... When I play the first episode, the most stable game modes seem to be: 1,2,3 and 6 (not sure if mode 6 is needed)... This way the game seems most playable... subtitles and audio is finally correct in cut scenes, but these HQ videos still lag even through SMB.

And I also get slowdowns when there's a lot happening on screen but I think that's because of GSM.

I don't use PS2RD and other features in OPL to get maximum compatibility. Also I use CRT TV and composite cable to get the original gaming experience.

I don't have that game, sorry.

Maybe you own this game? It also doesn't work for everyone.

Sorry, case solved. I was using literally ancient OPL, on 1.2.0 everything works fine.

What slowdowns you are talking about? It’s only about black screen. Game wasn’t working but it was fixed by new OPL.

I also have this issue in the new 1.2.0 beta. In 1.1.0, ratchet and clank opens without issues (except the slowdowns)
