The init.py file is now 1206 lines long which make it dificult to parse when you look for a specific method unless you have a good IDE.

I think this file should be split up to improve readability and more importantly what if we start using mypy ?

I recently did some work in sphinx extention and it's extremelly diffuclt to get what is hidden behind "self", "env", "app" etc...
