Request to add a new Trove classifier.

The name of the classifier(s) you would like to add:

  • Framework :: Ansible

Why do you want to add this classifier?

Ansible is an IT automation system for configuration management, application deployment, provisioning, network automation etc. It's written in Python, as is much of the surrounding ecosystem (e.g. ara, molecule, ansible-lint, ansible-runnner, awx)

Around 780 projects mention Ansible on PyPI. Many of these are using Ansible as an installation method. I estimate 100-300 would consider the classifier applicable. Having the classifier would allow users to find projects that build on Ansible, rather than happen to use it, similar to the situation with Framework :: Tox.

From https://pypi.org/project/ansible/2.10.6/

Thanks! This project takes ~24 hours to release, after which the new release needs to be deployed to PyPI.

pypa/trove-classifiers#61 added Ansible as a
classifier for projects on PyPI. This allows Python projects, and their
distributions (e.g. ansible-lint) to declare they use, enhance, or
otherwise involve Ansible.

PyPI projects can be filtered by this classifier, currently there are
none <https://pypi.org/search/?c=Framework+%3A%3A+Ansible>.
