pypi/warehouse#10030 has been fixed, meaning that it is now possible to publish a package with both

  • a pretty name
  • and sdist / bdist filenames normalized per the standards

currently poetry favours normalisation ie the filenames are standardized, but so is the project name which is not necessarily what the user wanted.

I have tested against test.pypi.org, successfully publishing a project with a name of the form foo.bar.

cf #560, which this should supersede.

Not sure I can work up the enthusiasm to put together a testcase! If you want one then maybe I will, though perhaps not soon.

Feel free to do any of merge anyway / not merge anyway / ask for a testcase / write a testcase...
