Unkillable freezes on Win10 x64 #3627
Comments
This may indicate that it(libtorrent actually) waits for network response. More specifically it tells the network driver to close/abort connections or dns queries and it stalls. |
No. Strangely enough no issues since I reported it (= Maybe MS fixed something via an update |
Hmm, then I am closing this. |
actually... don't. it just happened again. I will try to get a memory dump |
Thanks. I am on vacation and I have only a linux laptop. When I come back I'll try to analyze the dump. |
also getting this issue. just seems to hang waiting for something (guessing networking) however if left for a while (many mins) it will recover and work, How can i gather diagnostic data for you? |
I hope this will be fixed soon. Kinda tired of rebooting my PC every time I need to use qBittorent. It also affects seeding for me =( |
I am starting to think, that the issue is more with disk caching here. I had a torrent with 120+ Gigabytes being seed. When I removed it... No more hangups so far. My crashdimp was made with it present in the app. |
Is this still relevant with v3.3.3? |
It happened for me several times on Win 7 x64. Process will sometimes freeze with no obvious pattern, while restoring from tray, or during use, and won't go down with Task Manager or PsKill. A few times it died after some period of time (after pskill and task manager attempts), but next it will start up shrunk to mere window frame and will remain unresponsive until reboot. Dunno if that would happen all the time. Happened across several version, including the current, v3.3.3, one. |
The same or something similar is happening to me on Win 7 x64 with qB 3.3.16. qB just randomly freezes upon launching the app. A few minutes earlier, it happened just after reboot and I launched qB as a first application. After freezing the process is unkillable. If I reboot, it takes forever, very unusual for my laptop with SSD as a system disk. It seems to me, that if I just launch qB and don't click on anything or at least I don't switch windows, the chance of not freezing is higher. If qB freezes, if usually freezes Chrome, too. Rendering both unkillable (qB has only 1 (unkillable) process, you can kill all Chrome processes except one). The same freezing happens with War Thunder launcher, it just freezes itself and Chrome. WT launcher uses libtorrent like qB. |
Just to say I have the same issue, Win 7 x64. When I updated from qBittorrent 3 to qBittorrent 4, I was hoping this issue would have been solved, but sadly no. It seems to be aggravated by the number of torrents, even if they are paused (I usually have a total of torrent (running + paused), between 50 and 100, that's not huge... because of this issue it's already too many, and I precisely avoid having more...). It also seems to appear after some time. Like "saturating". I noticed that at some moments, my download speed just fall down to practically zero. And this issue can severely impact my system: both network and general responsiveness. The most irritating part is that the process stays and can't be killed. Or to be exact, it can disappear, but it takes many minutes. I am really sorry to say that, but because of this issue, I'm starting to consider an alternative to qbittorrent... no choice :\ |
Same issue, 4.1.1 on Win10 x64. When I pause most of the seeding torrents, it magically back to normal. |
I also have this issue, usually when seeding and downloading with the program running in the background. Windows 10 x64 |
This issue has been closed and locked for being too old, and thus either most likely resolved in recent versions or no longer applicable. A new issue report with relevant updated data gathered from the latest version is preferable to necroing an old report with a comment like "still happens in version x.y.z", even if you think the bug is the same, or suspect of a regression. Due to the changes made to the qBittorrent code and its dependencies over time, the exact cause of your problem could be totally different than the original one, despite the visible symptoms of the bug being similar. Thus, providing relevant updated information is crucial to find and fix the root cause of a recurrent problem or regression. Thank you for your contributions. |
So, I noticed, that sometimes qBittorent seems to freeze in a peculiar way on Windows 10 Pro x64. I generally keep it in tray, so sometimes, after I return from work, I open it from it to check the status of torrents. After migrating to Win10 sometimes clicking on tray icon does not open the window up. I kill the process from taskmanager, it does not show error, but.. Stays active. Win10 shows it as active, but successive tries to kill it result in "Access denied". Furthermore it locks all the files on HDD, that were registered to torrents opened in the app. The only solution for this is restart. Nothing is seen in event viewer.
qBittorent 3.2.3
Qt 4.8.7
libtorrent 1.0.6.0
Boost 1.55.0
