Redmine category:web_services_clients/wms

If I'm not mistaken, when loading the list of layers available from a WMS server GetCapabilities, QGIS keeps a copy of the corresponding GetCapability for future use.

There doesn't seem to be any way to delete this cached GetCapability or set after how long it should be automatically deleted. It would be pertinent for users to have the capability to manually delete this QGIS-cached WMS GetCapabilities.

There's at least two use cases where this feature is crucial: (A) when doing development work on a WMS server and the content of its GetCapabilities changes frequently, and (B) for time-enabled WMS servers where the time dimensions of layers on the WMS server change frequently, such as for weather layers served from WMS server. Thanks for considering -- Alex

I suggest closing this ticket in favor of #40350 . I am the one whom made this initial feature request but don't have the permissions to close it.

Since this initial feature request, the capability to refresh the WMS GetCapabilities has been added to QGIS core. This goes beyond the request of this #25545 request and makes it irrelevant today. However, the new WMS GetCapabilities feature does not work as intended yet as reported in #40350
