[Auxiliary storage] Labels Buffer DD options do not have fields set and do not render in map canvas

Enable labeling on a layer
Use the "change label" tool from the label toolbar, creating a data storage auxiliary DB.
In the change label properties dialog, there are some buffer related options (size, color) that you can change.
Modify the buffer properties: nothing happens in map canvas.
However, looking into the Layer properties dialog --> Attributes form (or Auxiliary storage) tab, you have both auxiliary_storage_labeling_buffercolor and auxiliary_storage_labeling_buffersize that you can unhide and modify. no changes either.

Give a look to the layer properties --> Labels --> Buffer tab, the properties are grayed while they should be enabled with yellow widgets for some.

Actually the Draw text buffer checkbox have to be checked, then everything is working correctly (tested on master):

I'm going to check on 3.10 before closing this issue.

It seems to work fine on QGIS 3.10 too (GNU/Linux).

@DelazJ Can you test with QGIS 3.10 please?

OK I get the same behavior (3.4 and 3.10 windows 10) but I don't think people should have to manually check that box. Given that you get results for the other properties, it's weird to get nothing with the buffer ones. and nothing makes you aware that you should check the box.
IMHO That should be transparent to users since the option is available as an auxiliary data and changing a buffer property this way should trigger the checkbox enabling.
