News feed not loading when using MSI installer #49097

What is the bug or the crash?

No

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Use a fresh machine or virtual machine
  2. Install QGIS using the standalone MSI installer
  3. Open QGIS

Results:

  • There are no news feed available
  • In the log messages general tab you can read the following:
2022-06-21T00:49:51     WARNING    HTTP fetch https://feed.qgis.org/?lang=en failed with error SSL handshake failed
2022-06-21T00:49:51     WARNING    News feed request failed [error: SSL handshake failed]

Additional context

I believe this was happeing already with the previews version, but I didn't report it.

Using the OSGeo4W works fine

It might be fixed by #50443

Once merged, could you please try with the new fixed version ?

I have confirmed with 3.22.12 and the news feed now works correctly both in the msi and OSGeo4w installation. Thanks @troopa81 !!
