What is the bug or the crash?

QGIS provides a customizable list of scales in Options --> Map Tools. These global scales are shown/used in drop-down menus when selecting scales in:

  • the status bar scale widget
  • the layer/label/diagram rendering tab --> visibility scale dependent
  • layout map item --> controlled by atlas, predefined scale (best fit)
  • secondary 2D map views --> View settings, scale selector

When you update the list of global scales, the changes is displayed in the widgets except the 2D map view setting which continue to provide the default predefined list, ignoring your new entry.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. In Options --> Map Tools, add a new scale
  2. Check the status bar scale entry the new value is there
  3. Add a new 2D map view
  4. Go to its settings and check the scales drop down list: the new value is not there

Versions

QGIS 3.28, 3.29

Supported QGIS version

  • I'm running a supported QGIS version according to the roadmap.

New profile

  • I tried with a new QGIS profile

Additional context

The 2D map view setting ignores also project predefined scales it should use when set (see #51326)
