What is the bug or the crash?

QGIS provides a customizable list of scales in Options --> Map Tools. These global scales are shown/used in drop-down menus when selecting scales in:

  • the status bar scale widget
  • the layer/label/diagram rendering tab --> visibility scale dependent
  • layout map item --> controlled by atlas, predefined scale (best fit)
  • secondary 2D map views --> View settings, scale selector

Users can override this list at project level (project properties --> View settings) and that new list is (supposed to be) used across the aforementioned widgets. This works for:

  • the status bar
  • the layer and diagram rendering tabs
  • the atlas scale

But this does not work for 2D map views nor the label rendering. They still show the list from the global scales settings.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. In Project properties --> View settings, add a new list of predefined scales
  2. Check the status bar scale drop-down menu: the new values are there
  3. Add a new map view
  4. Go to its settings and check the scales drop down list: the new list is ignored
  5. Same if you go to label properties --> Rendering tab --> Visibility scale dependent: you see no changes (while changes are available for diagrams and at layer level)
