Just a question - any reason not to use QgsDebugMsg for logging?

Tim, I don't think, I didn't even notice. When developing the gps stuff I
was using qdebug because I could trow anything at it... what is the
difference?

The qgsdebugmsg is better to use as it allows logging to a file and gives more control over logging output.
