Image that only appears in social metadata not properly copied to output folder

I have a blog post with a image: /path/to/image.png line in the yaml header. The image is not used on the site (in the body) but is used by a twitter/og cards. However, the file is not copied over when I render and preview the site. I've inspected the rendered page and the tags are all correct, just the image not being present

Adding ![](/assets/img/patchwork_logo.png){style="display:none;"} somewhere in the body of the file "resolves" this (i.e. the image gets copied over correctly). However, I would assume that the automatic copying of assets would work for social media cards

This appears to be related to the presence of frozen content.
