The r-cran-sf Debian package failed to build with GDAL 2.5.0-beta1 due to a configure error:

checking GDAL: /usr/share/gdal/pcs.csv readable... no
configure: error: pcs.csv not found in GDAL data directory.
ERROR: configuration failed for package 'sf'

Many of the CSV files were removed in GDAL 2.5.0 due to the changes in PROJ 6.0.0.
From https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/blob/v2.5.0beta1/gdal/NEWS:

== Removed installed files ==

  • Removal of resource files related to EPSG and ESRI CRS databases: compdcs.csv, coordinate_axis.csv, datum_shift.csv, ellipsoid.csv, esri_epsg.wkt, esri_extra.wkt, esri_Wisconsin_extra.wkt, gcs.csv, gcs.override.csv, gdal_datum.csv, geoccs.csv, pcs.csv, pcs.override.csv, prime_meridian.csv, projop_wparm.csv, unit_of_measure.csv, vertcs.csv, vertcs.override.csv

Thanks! sf 0.7-4, now on CRAN, should solve this.

I don't see the changes in the git repo, there are also no tags after v0.6-3, did you push your changes?

I am not disciplined in putting tags, since CRAN archives are the authority what a released R package version constitutes, not github. As you talked about the "r-cran-sf Debian package", I assumed this would be a mirror from a CRAN package, rather than a github version. The issue you reported should have been solved on github a while ago, as reported in #988.
