Its All Good
http://code.google.com/p/itsallgood/
By: Robert Accettura <http://robert.accettura.com>

About
--------------------------------
Its All Good is a simple framework for writing tests that can be read
by bots to monitor server usage. It's perfect for services like Pingdom
when you want to check the status of a server and not only see if it's
responding but if certain services are running within specific
parameters.

The framework is pretty simple and flexible so you can easily write modules that
can be dropped into the application and configured via the standard config file.
Some basic ones are included as a starting point and you should feel welcome to
contribute ones that you write so that the community can benefit and help maintain
and improve.

Installation
--------------------------------
1. Upload to web accessible directory
2. Modify config file as necessary
  a. Configure which modules you want to modify (explanation below). Most are commented out by default.
  b. Point log file to correct location (bottom of config file)
  c. Make sure log file permissions are so that it's writable by php
     (generally whatever user apache runs as, nobody, www, www-data, etc.)
  d. Recommended: setup logrotate (see docs/logrotate.d for example) to prevent logs from getting
     too big.
  e. Rename config.php.default to config.php
3. Help write better documentation ;-)

Config File
--------------------------------
An entry, which corresponds to one specific test in the config file looks like this:
$config['checks']['UNIQUE INDEX'] = array(
    'type' => 'TYPE',
    'config' => array(
        'OPTION' => 'VALUE',
        'OPTION2' => 'VALUE2'
        ...
    ),
    'label' => 'LABEL'
);

UNIQUE INDEX - this is a unique index, alphanumerical.
TYPE - this is the check type you want to use
OPTION/VALUE - each check can have an unlimited number of options, these are set here
LABEL - for the frontend, just a label so you can read quickly.

API
--------------------------------
/* tests always start with 'Check_' and extend CheckBase */
class Check_TEST_NAME extends CheckBase {

    public $about = array(
        // Some basic metadata we can query
        'title' => 'MODULE NAME',
        'author' => 'YOUR NAME',
        'url' => 'URL FOR YOUR MODULE',
        'description' => 'BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF YOUR MODULE',
    );

    protected $config = array(
        'option' => 'default value',
        'option2' => 'default value'
    );

    public function check(){
        // If test fails, return false
        if($this->test()){
            return false;
        }
        // Otherwise the system is good
        return true;
    }

    public function get_values(){
        // Get the value(s) for this test and return as a string
        //return $value;

        // Or if you want you can make a more complex key value relationship.
        // This isn't so impressive when using the webUI but in xml view, it's awesome.
        //return array(
        //    'free' => array('Free', $this->prettyPrintSize($this->data['free'])),
        //    'total' => array('Total', $this->prettyPrintSize($this->data['total'])),
        //    'diff' => array('Used Pct', round($this->data['diff'],2)."%")
        //);
    }

    // You can put as many helper methods here as you want, reference other classes, etc.
}

The CheckBase class modules extend contains a log() method which can be used for dumping info to the standard log file:
    _log($message, $verbosity)

    Args:
        $message = the message you want to save
        $verbosity = 1 - info, 2 - detail, 3 - debug
