[RFC] New logo #10
Comments
Personally I love the logo, it captures the essence of reactphp. Tbh the old logo looks like the javascript one :X |
It was, Igor thought it was funny |
I like the logo. I would like to see/test some different colour schemes and font variations with it. |
Honestly it is funny but the project matured over the years and I'm not sure if that is a logo that represents the project at this point 😄 . |
If anyone wants to play around, i've made a simple page where you can change the colors and share the results: http://sorgalla.com/reactphp.github.io/logo.html Example: http://sorgalla.com/reactphp.github.io/logo.html#react=%238e9197&php=%2333ffff |
Thanks for your work @jsor, I very much appreciate the work you've put into this and I like the suggested logo! 👍 Changing the logo of our project is certainly not something we should do prematurely, so I'd suggest we keep this open for a while and make sure to not jump the gun. This repository is only related to the homepage, I feel this is something that should be posted (or cross-posted) on the main repo, what do you think? That being said, I very much like the suggested logo and its reasoning 👍 I'm currently undecided on the colors, so I'm curious what others may come up with. |
IMHO, we should be pragmatic. The logo is the best thing i can come up with (as a non-designer) and i doubt we will get any alternatives anytime soon. So, we already have all core contributors in this thread which can decide 👍 or 👎 . Everything else will end in a lot of bikeshedding. If anyone here isn't 100% happy with the logo, i'm happy to ditch it. No strong feelings, really. If that happens, we still can open an issue in the main repo and ask for help. Maybe we'll find anyone who contributes logo alternatives. In the meantime, i can start working on the new website without a logo.
I think we should separate the decision of a color scheme from the logo decision. So, how to continue? Is anyone against a simple 👍 or 👎 vote on the logo? |
👍 I like the new logo layout / shape and the reasoning behind it. +0 On the suggested logo colors. While I like the colors (visually appealing), I kind of miss a similar reasoning behind them. I like @cboden's suggestion, while I don't like the suggested colors as much (less visually appealing), I like the reasoning and would probably vote 👍 on this. |
Seriously 👍 on the logo. The colours however, what do we want them to tell visitors? The whole word reactor keeps bringing my mind back to nuclear reactors and thus to these colours but they don't really look appealing: http://sorgalla.com/reactphp.github.io/logo.html#react=%23000000&php=%23ffff00 Here is one based off PHP's colours with a wink to reactivex: http://sorgalla.com/reactphp.github.io/logo.html#react=%23252833&php=%23b7178c |
Here is another one with the colour of the top line at reactphp.org: http://sorgalla.com/reactphp.github.io/logo.html#react=%23252833&php=%2345D55C |
Huge 👍 on the logo. I wouldn't mind having a bit of tweaking done to it though. |
I'm not sure these colours are at all any good, but: http://sorgalla.com/reactphp.github.io/logo.html#react=%232B3E51&php=%23c07eb7 The colours kind of remind php.net's colour scheme. |
@cboden what kind of tweaking did you have in mind? |
+1 for the PHP scheme, eg. http://sorgalla.com/reactphp.github.io/logo.html#react=%232b3a41&php=%238892bf |
Also 👍 for the PHP scheme! Where do the exact colors come from? Is this just our interpretation to look-alike or do we have any official reference here? |
Also 👍 for the PHP scheme! |
👍 PHP colour scheme |
Well that settles it then, I'll make a PR making the PHP colour scheme the colour scheme 🎉 |
New color scheme: http://reactphp.org/redesign/ |
The logo files are now available at https://github.com/jsor/reactphp-design |
With the new website design, i also introduced a new logo. @clue suggested we should discuss this in a separate issue, so here it is.
The R stands obviously for React, the red line is both a P (for PHP) and a symbol for the loop.
