Who is this for and what problem do they have today?

AWS users.

What are the success criteria?

A CloudFormation script to launch a red panda cluster that is free of proprietary enterprise code. Preferably Ubuntu 20.04 base AMI.

Why is solving this problem impactful?

As a megacorp consumer I'm not going to spend a day writing this myself just to benchmark. I also don't have the buy-in to get enterprise licensing until I can show the business that there is a performance/cost advantage vs kinesis/MSK/Confluent.
