Do DIY Face Masks Work?

TL;DR — Yes, many DIY protective face masks do seem work. But medical quality masks tend to work better than their home-made counterparts!

So — most medical face masks tend to work better than most home-made DIY protective face mask respirators.

But a home-made DIY protective face mask respirators may work better than nothing.

(Of course, the effectiveness of a DIY face mask you or someone else makes depends on how you made it, what it is made of, etc.)

So if you don't have a medical quality mask, then a home-made DIY protective face mask respirator is probably better than using nothing.
