Pavement Engineer @ Southwest Concrete Pavement Association (August 2020 - January 2022)

  • The Southwest Concrete Pavement Association works on behalf of the concrete pavement industry in California and Nevada and represents some of the largest paving contractors, material suppliers, testing labs, and equipment manufacturers in the region. The SWCPA is a non-profit organization providing technical expertise, training, and professional networking opportunities to our members as well as to state and local agencies. The association engages in opportunities to increase the use of long-life concrete pavements while focusing on innovation, quality, and sustainability.

Student Research Apprentice Collaborator @ California State Polytechnic University-Pomona (July 2018 - August 2018)

  • Supervised and mentored a team of STEM students participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program. The team performed a bench-scale experiment in the hydraulics laboratory to determine the removal efficiency of an advanced oxidation process (AOP) based on UV irradiation combined with hydrogen peroxide (UV/H2O2) degradation of trace organic compounds in wastewater.

  • Developed detailed construction estimates from plans and specifications utilizing On-Screen Takeoff (OST) estimating software.
  • Procured pricing from vendors and subcontractors to ensure accurate work estimates.

Estimating Technician Intern @ Flatiron Construction (November 2014 - February 2015)

  • Provide staged quantity takeoffs for estimators and gained an understanding of order of work for many different construction activities in the heavy civil field.
  • Perform takeoffs for construction work including: bridges; retaining walls; drainage; and minor concrete.

  • Provide assistance with various (structural testing) projects that require the use of the shake table at SDSU.
  • Setup/modification of various testing equipment such as displacement and acceleration measurement devices as well as shake table components.
