Here are some of my ideas for the next major version of Release Drafter

  • Split into multi module to allow for code sharing and allow for new actions to be created.
  • Create a CLI, this will allow for other CI systems to use Release Drafter, allows for testing locally and run for any release 🆕
  • Separate Probot (Webhook) and GitHub Action runtime behavior
  • Transition to Typescript
  • Introduce conventional commits label support! 🆕
  • Introduce a Pull Request label checker action! 🆕
  • Introduce in CLI a way to draft for older releases! 🆕

This would help alleviate issues like #1146 and #148
