Would be great if the document doesn't have to be published.

One possibility would be to use the gem google-drive-ruby

@AntoineInsa has put in a lot of effort on getting this functionality in: #22 (its not yet merged/released)

By the way, the public link doesn't work anymore, Google dropped as of April, 20th 2015. See https://github.com/gimite/google-drive-ruby#incompatibility-introduced-in-ver-100
