Find parts YA and YB.

Parts YA and YB

Loosely attach YB to YA using 2 #6-32 x 1/2" machine screws and nuts.

Assembly of YA and YB

Locate the parts labeled YC. There should be two of these.

Part YC

Attach a YC part to either side of part YA, using 2 #6-32 x 3/8" machine screws and nuts. It may help with assembly to use scotch tape to hold the nuts in the T slots as you align the parts.

Locate the parts labeled YD. There should be two of these.

Part YD

Attach a YD part to either end of the YC parts, using 2 #6-32 x 3/8" machine screws and nuts each.

Locate four 3/8" nylon sleeve bearings.

Also find four retainers.

Retainer parts

Press fit the nylon sleeve bearings into the holes in the parts labeled YC, and hold them each in place with a retainer clip with a pair of #6-32 x 1/2" machine screws and nuts.

Assembly of YA through YD2

You should be able to slide the hardened steel slider rod through the sleeve bearines with little friction.

Locate the top of the Y stage, labeled YE.

Part YE

Place #6-32 nuts in the seven upper T slots of the assembly so far. Tape them in place with scotch tape. Fit part YE over the tabs on the top of the assembly so far and snug it into place. Attach it with seven #6-32 x 3/8" machine screws.

Locate the 3mm cubic rare earth magnets and some superglue.

Rare earth magnets

Align the magnets so they stick to each other in a single line of magnet cubes. One by one press fit them into the small square holes in part YE in the same orientation. Use a dab of superglue if the magnets don't hold themselves in place.

Adding Magnets

Locate the part labeled YF.

Part YF

Press fit in magnets into the small square holes in the part labeled YF, in the same orientation. Dab them with superglue if thet don't hold themselves in place. Let the glue dry for a couple hours.
