How long before Ripple actually goes opensource? #581
Comments
I have used ripple extensively in the last month and can say that you might not see it in the open for some time. Glitches and growing pains occur too often as of now. I personally think that it would be more reasonable to open the code after it is stable for 3 month or so. Keep in mind that people put money into the system already. You see traders who have over 10 BTC in their accounts sometimes. Those people will surely want to have an open code that is stable at least. |
I was hoping in some kind of reply... |
Until the source code is public Ripple is dead to me. |
We fully understand that this is a drag in adoption and this is a top priority for us. |
We are currently getting the server code in a state to be open sourced. We absolutely want to release the source as soon as we can. |
Strategically, maybe it's not such a good idea to rush to open source? That would just make it easier for copycats to imitate and fork... As long as it's eventually open-sourced (e.g., later this year), that would be good. Just a thought. |
It has been some months since Ripple was launched, but still server's sources are (AFAIK) closed and all the servers are controlled by OpenCoin... how long do we have to wait before it goes open as it should?
I'm getting a bit worried.
