A collection of projects to explain Node.js, Mongoose, and other technologies to those who are learning to use them for the first time.
This project shows how to:
- Use the dotenv module to load environment variables from a configuration file
- Connect to MongoDB using Mongoose
- Define one basic User model
- Bind an ExpressJS web service
- Provide a couple of basic routes on that service
- Hash a user's password using SHA-256 with salt
- Create a document in the database to represent the User
