RWTS-PDFwiter is a printer driver for OSX which lets you create PDF files by simply printing. It requires OSX 10.9 or later, and is compatible with OSX 13 (Ventura). It works natively on both Intel and M1/M2 machines.
The installer automatically configures the printer driver, so you can begin to use it immediately after you have installed it. Just choose PDFwriter as your “printer”. PDFwriter simply captures the pdf file that your machine would normally send to a “real” printer, and instead, saves it as a file.
The files are saved in /var/spool/pdfwriter/<YourUserName>. Unfortunately, the security restrictions imposed by macOS on printer drivers mean that it is not possible to change this location. However, the Utility (which opens automatically during the install process) provides you with an easy option to create an alias to this location in a convenient place of you choice. You may also want to drag this alias into the right hand edge of your dock to provide quick, permanent access to this location.
