Google has removed the ability to even use the ADB shell to bring back old wifi tiles in Android 13, so this software is needed again.

+1, the adb tweak no longer works on Android 13 😞

Use Better Internet Tiles, just need Shizuku

I don't like Better Internet Tiles as a solution. Requirement for root access isn't something I want, and Shizuku is inelegant because of having to restart the service on reboots. I think I'm just going to fork this. I have never developed for Android before, and I am super busy; but I'm gonna do this.

Shizuku auto-stars on boot if you're rooted and is faster than root user. It's also better as you know that it just has adb-level access not superuser privileges that can be abused. But go ahead and fork it, nobody is stopping you. Sent with Shortwave https://www.shortwave.com?utm_medium=email&utm_content=signature&utm_source=am95c2luZ2guanMxQGdtYWlsLmNvbQ==

I don't want to root my phone for a Wi-Fi tile. It's also not a good solution if I have to somehow run adb commands for a Wi-Fi tile after every reboot.

Going through that shouldn't be necessary, I haven't used this tool but if it offers a way to bring back the wifi tile without root/custom rom/application workarounds, then it is very much needed. I want the system WiFi toggle, not the combined internet tile.

I agree with OP, rooting and more extensive tooling seems like an overkill for this kind of small tweak. The app works for me on Android 14 as of now, the only problem is that Airplane Mode needs to be off for the toggle to work.

Well your AOSP build doesn't have that feature on by default. You will need to use ADB to change the setting internally. Shizuku is easy to activate, just connect to a local wifi!

If you read the post you will see that is no longer possible.

Look I appreciate that you're trying to help but I'm looking for a system solution if possible. As I've said before I don't want to use applications that add their own tiles, I don't want root, and I don't want a different ROM. People have said this program still offers that without all of what I've listed, so it seems is possible.

glhf, aospmods would have already done this if it was possible
