Code of Conduct

Introduction

We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants in the RSpace project. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for behavior and our shared responsibility to foster a positive and collaborative community. We expect everyone involved in the RSpace project, including contributors, maintainers, and users, to abide by this code of conduct.

Inclusivity and Respect

We value and celebrate diversity in the community, and we welcome individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, disability, or any other characteristic. We strive to create a safe environment where all participants can freely express their ideas and opinions without fear of discrimination, harassment, or exclusion.

Expected Behaviors

In order to contribute to a healthy and constructive community, all participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect, kindness, and empathy, both in person and in virtual interactions.
  • Use inclusive language and avoid any form of offensive, derogatory, or discriminatory remarks or behavior.
  • Listen actively to others, consider their perspectives, and engage in constructive dialogue.
  • Be open to feedback and willing to learn from others.
  • Respect the boundaries and personal space of others.
  • Be considerate of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of fellow community members.

Unacceptable Behaviors

The following behaviors are considered unacceptable within the community:

  • Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation in any form, including but not limited to verbal, written, or physical abuse.
  • Offensive, derogatory, or discriminatory comments or jokes related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, disability, or any other characteristic.
  • Personal attacks or public shaming.
  • Unwelcome advances, inappropriate or invasive behavior.
  • Disruptive or disrespectful behavior during project discussions, meetings, or events.
  • Any form of retaliation against individuals who report violations of this code of conduct.

Reporting and Enforcement

If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this code of conduct, we encourage you to report it promptly. Reports can be made via the designated entry points on GitHub, or via our open-source team at opensource@researchspace.com who will maintain confidentiality and take appropriate action accordingly. Consequences for violating the code of conduct may include, but are not limited to, warnings, temporary or permanent bans from project participation, or other actions deemed necessary to maintain a safe and inclusive community.

Licensing and Intellectual Property

By contributing to the RSpace project, you agree to abide by the licensing requirements and respect the intellectual property rights of others. Ensure that your contributions comply with the relevant licenses and avoid infringing upon the rights of others.

Scope and Amendments

This code of conduct applies to all project-related activities, including but not limited to code contributions, issue discussions, mailing lists, forums, chats, events, and social media platforms associated with the RSpace project.

We commit to regularly reviewing and improving this code of conduct, taking into consideration the feedback and suggestions from community members. Amendments to this code of conduct will be communicated to the community through appropriate channels.
