The Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Science used to have a very specific article template that they required for submissions to the annual meeting. These standards have been relaxed substantially in the last few years, but a few things are still unique. I previously worked to create a LaTeX template that somehow got official blessing.

I have no idea how many people will use this template, but I know that I will. So I'm going to start working on it this weekend. I plan to start from elsarticle and do a few things:

  • Make a title page with authors in rows
  • Make an abstract page
  • fix fonts

Alternatively, I might be able to just use the elsarticle template directly if I can figure out how to create a new page after the abstract.

By filing an issue to this repo, I promise that

  • I have fully read the issue guide at https://yihui.name/issue/.
  • I have provided the necessary information about my issue.
    • If I'm asking a question, I have already asked it on Stack Overflow or RStudio Community, waited for at least 24 hours, and included a link to my question there.
    • If I'm filing a bug report, I have included a minimal, self-contained, and reproducible example, and have also included xfun::session_info('rticles'). I have upgraded all my packages to their latest versions (e.g., R, RStudio, and R packages), and also tried the development version: remotes::install_github('rstudio/rticles').
    • If I have posted the same issue elsewhere, I have also mentioned it in this issue.
  • I have learned the Github Markdown syntax, and formatted my issue correctly.

I understand that my issue may be closed if I don't fulfill my promises.

Thanks for sharing this ! That is really great!

Please reach out if you need help. you can open a draft PR when you are ready to share but this is not ready to merge yet.

Can I just ask why start from elsearticle ? Your LaTeX template is based on it in the first place ?

Well, they've made the author submissions a lot simpler since the template was originally written. I had thought that a couple of changes to elsarticle would be all that was necessary. But I'm moving forward now using the latex template I linked to.

Any timeline on when this might be closed? TRB papers are due this weekend and I am looking forward to giving the template a try :) Thanks for your work on this @gregmacfarlane

Sorry @higgicd; my student and I decided to not do it this year. I will be looking to close this in the next few weeks though, to get it off my plate.
