I have created widget for Recent Media and working on popular media widget. I have discussed with Gagan for popular posts, he said we will be using post comments for media item instead of activity comments and working for most viewed by view count.

I am pushing code on 'dev' branch and I have named the widgets as 'Recent Media Widget' and 'Popular Media Widget'.

I have created new separate branch and named it as feature-widget. Today I haven't get enough time to work on widgets, tomorrow will continue the work on widgets.

I have created widget 'Popular media widget' for comment count and view count. I have stored view count of single media in post meta. Tomorrow will write new functionality to check whether the page single media item page and will work on the other issues and enhancements.

You can proceed with using updated custom-posts.
2.2 is live. Try to finish this in 2.3.

Rather than creating many widgets, lets create a widget with plenty of options AND allow multiple instances of this widget.
