I've tried disabling HTTPS Everywhere and AdBlock, neither do anything.

What OS are you running? I tested it in OSX, Firefox 38 and it disappears as expected.

Confirmed in Arch 5.01, Firefox 38.

Use overflow:auto, it works.

I've noticed this completely intermittently on OSX in chrome and safari as well -- i'll get a patch in to the theme shortly

This is an issue with the theme, I've moved it there: readthedocs/sphinx_rtd_theme#200
