An idea worth exploring may be to build into the 'ruboto setup' error reporting.
For example, given that on Mac OS X, the IntelHAXM installation process was two versions behind and not picked up earlier; this would be a great way to detect what's not working in the "real end-user world" and aid us in discovering these kinds of problems earlier (as reported in Issue #612.

Either this could build a bug report and email it to us or a remote web service.

Thoughts?

Hi @daneb !

Yes! This sounds interesting! ruboto setup is the gateway into Ruboto, and one of our selling points. Enabling user feedback would be good. Feel free to implement it, preferably on a topic branch.

One danger is that we get flooded with user responses, and we don't have the capacity to answer them, but if that happens, I will be very happy :) We have way too little user responses now :) I expect you will help answering user responses, right?

The feedback should not be fully automatic, but require a user action, maybe just "Y" on a question of they want to report a bug.

The result could be an issue in the tracker with a predictable subject like 'Bug report from "ruboto setup"'. That requires a GitHub user login. I would prefer if the actual user is recorded as opening the issue, but inserting just the @user name in the issue title or body is OK.

OK, @daneb go ahead, and ask if you want input from me.

An idea is to offer a link like we do in https://github.com/ruboto/ruboto/wiki/Contributing

The link can contain the detected error output.
