Many of the translations are lacking active maintainers:

Update Please read our maintenance policy

The last activity on zh_cn was also end of 2011 and the original maintainer weren't active since then. I will work a bit on it but due to the reason that I'm not native it will be a bit slow.

I remember that there was a discussion about the announcement of the move to Git. Maybe we should collect all the languages whoch are un-maintained and request for help inside of the announcement too.

Hey, guys, I'm the guy behind the bulgarian version of the old Radiant based website.
I'm little busy at the moment learning for an exam, but will get my hands dirty next week.

Congrats on the migration 👍

@hsbt, @postmodern, @chikamichi We do not have any review process, do we?

Maybe we should have pull requests as a first stage before granting commit bits.

agree with @stomar 👍

Since most of the language will have more than 2 maintainers, review process sounds legit :)

To all new contributors and maintainers you should read the Contributing Guidelines and it's worth noting this particular part of it:

I confirmed contributor's profile before granting commit bit. but I agreed your idea such as offered to create pull request to contributor before granting commit bit.

stomar commented May 31, 2013

To all contributors (maintainers or not): A good place to start--besides the recent news posts--might be any issue marked with translation, especially #86.

Hum, that was kind of a bold move granting all those commit rights without any "motivation checks", but well, let's try this way 👍 I guess, if by the end of next week, some of the new volunteers didn't actually show up, we could always refine the access list.

The thing is, now https://github.com/ruby/www.ruby-lang.org/wiki/Team is outdated. First live test: @fuadsaud @mytrile @dabit @vic @hagarelvikingo @hagarelvikingo @tkhr @fuadsaud @songjiayang @chenyukang, could you append your credentials on this page? :)

@hagarelvikingo i think u just need to say that u want to... :P

according to https://github.com/ruby/www.ruby-lang.org/wiki/Become-a-maintainer

When considering bootstrapping a new language, please keep in mind you must be at least 2 editors, willing to back the section in the long-term. Otherwise, consider contributing every once in a while, this is fine too!

@chikamichi is this need to translated?
http://www.ruby-lang.org/zh_cn/documentation/ruby-from-other-languages/to-ruby-from-python/
since it's still en version at zh_cn.

@fuadsaud

Hmm, the pt translations are heavily based on Portugese from Portugal. It differs a lot from Brazilian Portuguese (which is the one I speak) :\

@badosu do you think we can figure it out?

@take
Copy link
Contributor

take commented May 31, 2013

@chenyukang i think you should open a new issue/pr for that :D

@stomar
Copy link
Contributor

stomar commented May 31, 2013

@chenyukang There are a couple of pages not translated in zh_cn. If you want to translate make sure to use the current en version as basis, since the version in zh_cn is outdated.

Suggestion, it might be easier to manage contributors by creating teams for each translation (ex: ruby/www-ruby-lang-org-pl).
