I am using bbs with calibre to run a library of shared (physical) books between a group of parents. I have assigned the books extra columns in calibre to keep track of who owns which book and who currently has it. I know this is outside the initial scope of bbs/calibre but I haven't seen any library software that beats this combo for what I am doing.. So my question is: Will there be any way to display extra info when you have clicked on a book? I don't need these to be sort options but it would be perfect if the info was displayed when looking at the book details page..
Thanks for the amazing work..

It's always nice to hear about the creative solutions people are finding!
I was already thinking about adding metadata fields to the book details page for various purposes (see also #18 ). That mechanism would also make it possible to display custom columns.
I haven't used the custom columns in Calibre, they seem to be very flexible. I'm not sure about the complex columns ( column built from other columns ), but the simple ones might be easy to integrate. What column types do you use?
So far I'm using a "Text column for keeping series-like information" and "Text, column shown in the tag browser"
At the moment I'm mainly interested in being able to see the information when viewing the book details after clicking it.
Using this as a catalog for real books is causing some weird quirks when trying to view from an opds reader, but the html works great without the ebooks being present. So far I'm not sure how far I will take this idea.. If I do end up sticking with it I will need to help provide a simplified chinese language pack for the project.
