Driving-Hazards

An HTC Vive VR application which simulates the hazards involved with animals crossing the road.

Requirements

  • Unity 2017.3.1
  • HTC Vive (optional)

Packages Included

  • Steam VR
  • 5UDE ( a package written by Dr Ryan McMahan and team at UTDallas )

Installation/Working

  • go to the directory of your choice
  • clone this repo

git clone git@github.com:saayv1/Driving-Hazards.git

or

simply download it from the clone option on this page

  • open Unity 2017.3.1

  • select the 'Open' option

  • Navigate to the directory in which you've cloned the project using the popup file explorer window

  • click on 'Open'

  • after the project has loaded completely, double-click the 'Driving' scene

  • select Vive/Real World Simulator within the Driving scene

  • If you aren't using the HTC Vive,

    • go to the inspector and check the checkBox next to Real world simulator
    • Go into the Real World Simulator and select the handheld controllers to operate the car and use the head mounted display to adjust the view.

Controls

  • Right Vive Trigger Button: -The Right Vive Trigger Button is used for accelerating the car. If you leave the trigger button the car will start to decelerate.

  • Left Vive Touchpad: -With the help of the left Vive touchpad you can interact with the car steering and move It accordingly so as to move the car in the desired direction.

  • Right Vive Touchpad: -With the help of the right Vive touchpad you can interact with the car steering and move It accordingly to move the car in the desired direction.

  • Left Trigger Button:-If you want to brake the car while it’s in motion you should use the left trigger button.

  • Right Grip Button: - If you want to reposition the car back to its initial position you should use the right grip button.
