あんまり簡単な機能をC言語で実装しちゃうのはどうかと思いました。

サクラエディタには、マクロによるカスタマイズ機能があります。

標準でインストールされる機能の一部を意図的にマクロ提供してみたら、
マクロによるカスタマイズの有効性をアピれるんじゃないかと思いました。
