The latest major release of the etcd api supports election out of the box with their newly introduced concurrency api.

This api is roughly tested and highly optimized and doesn't depend on fixed ttl's anymore.

Hi @pjvds I'm a little out of the loop on etcd past v2. Can you point me to some docs?

At any rate, if there's a high level locking API available in modern etcd releases, then there's no need to use this package at all, right?
