No change after editing post / Cutting out text

i just updated from 1.4.2 to 1.4.4.

after editing any post, the changes not take place and some of the Text were cut away.

Example:
I wantetd to edit this Post:

"Hallo Chris,

test123

[...]"

In the editor it looks like:

"H

test123"

When i want to change "test123" to "testABC". The result is:

"H

test123
"
The Editod cuts out "allo Chris," and changes nothing.

I had to switch back to 1.4.2. There everything works fine. But i really want to use 1.4.4 because of some fixed issues.

I can't reproduce the error you're getting: it's working fine for me on MyBB 1.6.9.

Whatever. MyBB 1.6.9 and 1.6.10 are similar, there shouldn't be any difference in SCEditor. What's your board's URL?

Just updated to 1.6.10 (didn't realise that had been released). I've just been looking into this and noticed a bug stopping quick edit from loading but nothing so far nothing causing text to be cut off in either quick edit or full edit.

Is there any BBCode around the "allo Chris," part? Also does this problem happen with all post or just that one?

No there is no BB-Code around this.

It happens also in other threads, i few of them are still in my forum.
I switched back to 1.4.2 and everything works fine. If you need more information i can install 1.4.4 and can check some details.

I've set up a test forum at: http://mybbtest.samclarke.com/ with a test account testtest with the password testtest. Could you see if you can reproduce it there?

It happens also when creating a new post and just in the Full Edit!

The fact that it doesn't happen on the test forum explains why I can't reproduce it. Now just need to work out what it is that triggers the bug. I've just tested it with the German translation (I think that's the language in the video) and that works fine so doesn't look that it's that.

If you have Chrome installed, could you go to the edit page with the post that has the bug (no need to use 1.4.4) and then press ctrl+shit+i then click console on the far right. Then where the blue arrow (>) is, type: jQuery('#message').val(); and hit enter. Does that show all the text of the message?

As you have some non-default emoticons, I'm wondering if maybe the editor isn't escaping one of them properly causing the text to be replaced. Could you post a list of the emoticon Text to Replace strings?

I am using 1.4.2 and have done all you told me with chrome. All the text of the message is shown when typing jQuery('#message').val();

Thanks for checking and posting the the list of emoticons. I've just tested them and it still seems to be working so doesn't look like it's that.

The nearest looking theme I could find to the on in the video was Apart 1, is that the theme you use? If it is it isn't that either which means it must be some incompatibility with one of the plugins. Could you post a list of the plugins you have activated?

I've installed nearly all of them (couldn't find a few), so far I can't reproduce it. Could you see if it happens on the test forum now?

I couldn't download MyDownloads as it's a paid plugin but I think it's unlikely that is what's triggering the bug.

I will clone the forum to my local host and test with the plugins and themes. maybe this is the best way to find the bug.

I've installed all but "Regelbestätigung" as it required forum registration to download. The test forum now has all the plugins apart from "MyDownloads" and "Regelbestätigung", the same theme and the same emoticon codes.

Annoyingly I still can't get it to reproduce this error. I know it exists but no matter what I try I just can't reproduce it. Could you try the test forum now and see if you can reproduce it there (I might be doing something differently).

If you could try disabling plugins, changing the theme or anything else that is non-default on a clone until you find out what's causing it that would be great!

Just found a bug with escaping special characters in emoticons, could you check if this version resolves the issue?

I'm not 100% sure if this is the same issue or not. I think it is but as none of the emoticons in the pastebin look like they could match the text in video, I'm not completely sure.

@samclarke It didn't work in that version, I deactivated, and then move everything to FTP. After activating, it won't edit still. I have a Moderator test account and you can see the issue yourself if you want.

I got a little time and tested with some versions and a new imported theme "apart 1"

So i imported the theme and installed this versions of your editor:

1.4.4.1 ( the editor cuts text on editing and does not save )
1.4.4 ( same as 1.4.4.1 )
1.4.2 (this works for me, but still has Issue #37 .

So I tested it with a fresh theme, but the issue isn solved. :-(

What did you changed from 1.4.2. to 1.4.4. After updateing to this version, the issue first came up.
By the way. Is there a version 1.4.3?
Is it possible that you can write seperate versions with the changes made to 1.4.4.1.
So when i have every fixed issue version on 1.4.2, i can test these issues.

@ps915 I am back to creating themes and when I start working on my new theme, I will test out the editor to see if the problem is still occurring. It would take about up to 2 months though. I never solved the issue and it got so irritated to where I switch back to CKeditor sadly until this issue is resolved. :(

Odd to hear this from all of you as 1.4.4 works just fine for me. I'd say it's a plugin that is causing the issue but I have no idea about what it could be.

Any news on this? People are complaining they cant edit their posts, at least, after submitting their edits are gone. :(

I'm having the bug too with SCEditor 1.4.4 - posting and replying works nicely, but trying to edit a post doesn't work. The edit won't be saved.

Love the editor but can't use it as long as this error is still there :(

Unfortunately not. Stopped using the editor soon afterwards.

But I recently heard that SCEditor will be standard in the upcoming MyBB
1.8 release so I think everything will be fixed by then! :)
