Ignore trailing spaces in a test just added for ticket #1002643, since we want to fix one issue at a time.
This commit replaces a relatively simple, with a rather complicated hack, in order to fix ticket #1002643. Please consult the documentation in the source code for further details. Fixes #1002643

This PR introduces a hack that fixes Ticket #1002643. It goes without saying that I'm not particular happy with the code, so I'm open for your suggestions!
