This folder consists of a set of codes to replicate several of the empirical results reported in "On the Incentive Structure of Tournaments: Evidence from the National Basketball Association's Draft Lottery", submitted to Eastern Economic Journal, by Martin B. Schmidt (schmidtm@wm.edu). For any questions, please contact: Martin B Schmidt Department of Economics, William & Mary schmidtm@wm.edu The files are: 1. Data files: pcourt_2017_2018_pbp.csv and court_2018_2019_pbp.csv This is the play_by_play data for the 2017-2018 and 2018-19, respectively. The data was ompiled by Udam Singh Saini & Katherine Evans at eightthirtyfour.com. 2. The main program for calculating the game-defined team efficiency frontier, i.e, figure 3 is: (a) team_data.py - creates the productivity measure for each player (repetitive) (b) frontier_cvopt_const.py - estimates the frontiers and risk_diff & return_diff
