Due to this issue: commercialhaskell/stack#563

As far as I know the only option is to upgrade to GHC >= 7.10, how bad it will break? Cabal file mentions problems with newer base and mtl, which look to be easily fixable...

It should be reasonably easy to update to newer GHC versions, and it's probably a about time that we do that. Unless you're already planning to submit a pull request for this one, I'll put it on our TODO list.

(ps: the thread you reference also has a (somewhat distasteful) workaround)

I've made a PR fixing this issue. BTW, is your TODO list publicly available somewhere?

Saw that - test is running. The TODO list (main issue tracker) is currently internal only -- too much entanglement with other projects and customer projects for now to easily make it public. I've been thinking about automated mirroring of a subset to github or things like that, but all options seem complicated.
